LFB Ladies SS #7

Chapter 4: A Sanctuary of Time, pgs. 71-78

Last Weeks Assignment: Slow Down, live in the moment. How did you do?

Discussion Jumping off points:

“’Gave thanks’…I’d never considered those two words, the bridge words there in the middle, the crossing over that took the not enough and made it enough. Gave thanks. Eucharisteo. Jesus embraces His not enough…He gives thanks…And there is more than enough. More than enough! Echaristeo always, always always precedes the miracle. …Thanksgiving makes time.” Pgs 71-72.

“ The real problem of life is never a lack of time. The real problem of life—in my life—is lack of thanksgiving.” Pg 72

"It takes a full 20 minutes after your stomach is full for your brain to register satiation. How long does it take your soul to realize that your life is full? The slower the living, the greater the sense of fullness and satisfaction. The body and soul can synchronize." Pg.76

“…and days flood torrential—but full attention slows the current. Don’t I always have the choice to be fully attentive? Simplicity is ultimately a matter of focus. Eucharisteo, eucharisteo. That keeps the focus simple—sacred.” Pg. 77

Please read starting at the last paragraph on page 77 to the end of the chapter.

Our response is deeply based in the Holy Spirits leading. I can’t do it on my own power. My newly “learned” behavior can only take me so far. When I am angry, my sin nature wants to, well, sin. That is when I need to call upon the Holy Spirit to change my actions, heart, focus, etc. Ask to slow the current, be fully attentive, and help me speak eucharisteo.

Assignment #7

Start to ask the Holy Spirit to trigger your mind and point you towards Eucharisteo, to start living out the things in this chapter. Feel free to re-read chapter 4, let it rest in your bones. Let’s start changing the way we “do life.” We have discussed in class that this is not eas, but we have to start somewhere and let that be now. Make your daily locations sanctuaries, take time to see the blessings and be thankful for them, don’t pass up opportunities to hear stories of those around you.
